June 2022

As June progresses, I can’t help but to think about how things are progressing in my life this year and in our gatherings. Sometimes things pass by quickly, the good and the learning opportunities together. Through it all one of the best parts is the support, honesty, and care we give each other. Those things may just be the life saving moment for someone else since we don’t know everything a person is going through sometimes.

Individual classes and other pop up events are also occurring. Let me know if you’d like to try an individual class or have an idea for an upcoming yoga event.

This month we have the solstice for summer. We will be celebrating on June 26th though you’re welcome to honor the day on the 20th and prepare for International Day of yoga too! Come join in for the fun and experience a potluck along with 18 sun salutations together as a group with donations to a local organization.

The Enjoy and Encourage (E&E) group has had multiple successful outings in June already with some bike riding, walks and concert going for the local bands in Peru, IL and Spring Valley, IL. There are more events coming up and all are welcome to join. Send me a message if you are interested in doing new things, encouraging others and enjoying time together with E&E.

Book club has sustained thoughtful conversations. If you’d like to join the book club on Monday evenings right after yoga class and/or have a book suggestion, please let me know. It is being hosted in person at the Mendota YMCA after Monday’s yoga class and virtually via Zoom.

In June let us consider: What kind of advice on life would I give my younger self? In fact, you could write a letter to your younger self, or your future self for a year or even longer later. This website even lets you have a message sent to your email at a later date if you’d like to try sending yourself an email: https://www.futureme.org/. My last letter had some great encouragement and remembrance for the beauty life gives us. We can build and set ourselves up for a better tomorrow too!

Since this one is directly actionable as well as contemplative, maybe this will generate some thought for contemplation: How and how often do I give myself permission to enjoy life? How do I feel then?

Peace, joy and love,

Emily
